UPS ate my Thunderfunk (shipping woes) So. Sold my 750a to a nice fella in Louisiana after a while up on the classifieds. Shipped it via UPS, even had them pack it just to be extra silly careful. Insured for $1200. He just got it. - master volume bent/pot stripped and not functioning properly - power switch is cracked at the bottom and is bent in. - one of the midrange eq knobs is not functioning - several pots are noisy and scratchy (!?) As I am fantastically tired, bummed (it was pristine!!), and my bleary eyes are done scouring the UPS website which doesn't allow me to submit a claim without a magical account number that doesn't exist, any ProTips on dealing with UPS tomorrow for a speedy/acceptable resolution? |
Make sure you have all your UPS paperwork. Make sure the buyer saves ALL the packaging. I would start at the UPS store you went to. Or call customer service. Good luck |
Be sure and get pics of the amp and packaging to take with you when you file a claim under the insurance you purchased. Also, have the guy report the problem to UPS as well. Since UPS packed it, they can't blame you. |
Thanks guys :) Ended up talking out options with the buyer, and we're just sending it on to Dave Funk. Waiting around for resolution was going to leave him stranded, so I'm just gonna take the repair/shipping hit. Filed with UPS as well, sent pics, info, doubt anything will come of it without them being able to check the amp themselves, but. I just want the buyer to be as happy as possible more than anything. And Dave'll warranty it for a year after doing the work - that guy's just awesome. Moral of the story: pack it yourself! Don't leave it to the "professionals". |
