Using a fan at a gig

Sign in to disble this ad
I played a gig a couple weeks ago at a club with no air conditioning. The club owner had a thermometer and said it was over 100 degrees. Does anyone take a personal fan to those extra hot gigs? If so, what kind?

I used to bring a big Window Box fan with me to every gig. Even with A/C it gets pretty hot on stage under the searing lights!!! The fan proved extra useful when I had my mid-back length long hair... dramatic effect!

no but seriously I use a Vornado fan. I don't care if they ARE overpriced at $80....it. freaking. kills. best live gear purchase I've ever made. I would stand up there with no sound coming out of my bass before I played without my vornado off the side of the stage bringing the cool

I carry a little 5" fan with me, and put it on top of my amp. The drummer has two fans, though, for both sides of his kit

Yes, almost always. I have several 11" Honeywell 3 speed fans that are easy to add to any load and some other fans that have a tilt back feature for outdoor gigs and any other hot gig that has room.

Turbo ForceŽ Floor Fan HF-910 | Honeywell Fans

i always take a fan. better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. i use either an 8" or 12" pivot head fan.

I use a Vornado as well. Pricey, but well worth it if you gig regularly. Comes to every gig. Moves a heckuva lot of air, and is very quiet. It also blows air a long distance as well so you can put it well off to the side if you need.

The only problem is keeping the lead singer from turning it toward herself. I've got my hands full playing bass and have been tempted to ward her off with a well-placed boot some day.

I bring this little 36" fan with me to shows all the time:

Easily loads up into the back of a car, and keeps me nice and cool.

DISCLAIMER: that is not actually my fan, and picture may or may not have been found by Google Image Searching the term "cool midget"

What size Vornado do you use? The littlest one or the medium sized one?
