My first guitar was an Epiphone SG-310, and even though it was a bit of a POS, I loved that guitar. I've spent some time looking into used SG standards, and most of the time I see them for about $800 with the Gibson HSC. They're on ebay all the time for about that much, and I think it's a fair price if everything is in good condition.

That's a better price than most ask for, I'd go with it if you have the funds to do so. Those guitars are $1,200 new without a case, paying half that with a case is pretty straight.

You'd be doing pretty good at $600.00.

In good shape with OHSC, I usually see them for $700.00-$900.00.

See if he bites at $550.00, and if he does, have a steak dinner on him.

...for 1199 they include a hsc...but for 600 for a Standard, I'd hit it, as long as it's clean...

...600 is what we paid for my son's SG Special/faded (new), and it did not include a hsc...even the faded models go for more than that now...

Congratulations! IMO, SGs are the most comfortable guitars to play. $600 is pretty good, too.
