A) He's a scammer.

B) He's so gullible that a "technician" who is a scammer told him a bunch of bs in order to scam him and he's too ignorant about setups to know any better.

Bridge 90 degrees off? So he's saying the strings are wrapping around the body now? What did he do, get into a car wreck on the way home? lol

Reminds me of the time I sold a car to a co-worker back in the 90's. A working vehicle which I drove daily 80 miles for $500. $500 is really cheap for a working vehicle. Well, the guy drove the thing into the ground. He sped around town like he was a race car driver. Not just this car but any car he drove. Something happened and his girlfriend calls me up asking for their money back! I politely told her that all private car sales are final and lemon laws do not apply. It was working when I handed him the keys. He drove it around and agreed to purchase. Not my fault he's a brutal driver. He bugged me about it for a few days and then gave it up!

The local music community refers to the shop he took it to with its name changed to incorporate the word "shaft" (I'll say no more about specifically identifying it). Prices there are normally about 20% more than what they ought to be and the tech shop tends to act like a car garage - bring an instrument in to fix one thing and they give you a laundry list of other alleged problems that "need" expensive fixes. That's why I took it to the rival shop up the street - if the instrument doesn't need to be fixed, he'll tell you so.

I believe it. I'm an appliance tech. The horror stories I've had to follow, and strighten out, could fill a book.

I only sold it because I wasn't really gigging with it and decided to cut back to the minimum.
Fuggedaboutit already! The flake had every chance to detect and call attention to any so-called "flaws" at the time he inspected and played the instrument. He failed to do so, you now have his money - and assuming that you had established an explicit "All Sales Final" policy with him at that time - this is now a dead issue.

Ignore him. Get on with your life. Have another beer...
