| | | Venting My YYZ Related Frustration...

I decided that today I would learn YYZ, a song I've always wanted to be able to play. So after a (long) while, I've figured out all the parts, except for the second little bass solo, which I can't seem to get.
Anyway, I decide that I have it good enough to record it onto my little cassette player (ommiting of course the second solo). This is where the frustration comes in: I've recorded it about ten times, and I simply cannot nail it. It seems that whenever I get going well, I lose my focus and screw up. It's all very frustrating, so I just had to vent.
Has anyone had a similar frustrating bass playing experience?

| | | | It's a very difficult song. I took a stab at it, but could never get a clean tone, so gave up. I'll revisit it in a while, when my technique is cleaner. |

It's a tricky one. I tried learning it once years ago and gave up in frustration after a few hours. I'm not sure if it's possible to play it without the Geddy Nail(tm).

my teacher alwasys tells how his technique was cleaned right up when he first stepped into a studio, because the second someone makes a mistake, then the whole take has to be started again. |

I love to play that tune, BTW.
