I play in a church worship band for our church's contemporary service. We use in ear monitors and I have been using some ipod headphones. Last night I forgot my ipod headphones and one guitar player wasn't there so I used his headphones (which the church bought). It was amazing! The guitar player told me they cost about $200 and everyone on stage had a pair except for me (i just started playing with them about a month ago)! I went to the music director and talked to him about them and he said they could get me some no problem. I'm not sure of the model, but I know they were made by "Sure" (spelling?).

Anyway, I could hear so much better last night, especially the Low B, I guess my ipod speakers can't pick up that low of a frequency. I felt more solid about my playing last night then I ever have...all because i could hear myself better. Go figure.

Shure in-ears are great. I actually use a pair with my ipod.

Free, as always, is best. Nice work.

Having lots of Shure ones over the years, I will never use any in-ears without a separate bass driver. To get a separate bass driver from Shure you need to step up to the SE420s, which are about $350. In my opinion, there are much better alternatives available then Shure at the same price points. You're paying a lot for their name and their reputation as the 'market leader.'

I have a pair of M-Audio IE-310s, separate drivers. They're licensed from Ultimate Ears so they're professional grade. I paid less than 200 for them, and they're better than the Shures by far.
