A very odd request to Minnesota/Minneapolis-area bassists

Just like the title says. Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I have a very interesting predicament, if it even qualifies as that. One of the many bands I play in, just for fun, is playing a CD release party for a friend of the band.

He's doing something a bit different from the usual cd release party. He has gotten 8 other bands to perform his songs, but interpreted the way they would do them, not necessarily being true to the way he recorded or plays them. Personally, I think it's a very cool idea, and I'm excited I get to be a part of something like this. I've played cd release shows before, but never with a theme like this.

All the bands are very good, and have different, distinct sounds. Here's the catch: we are more a novelty act for this show. We are playing everything in a cheezy-nu-metal style (not our usual thing, but that's not the issue). We'll be dressed up in costume and everything. (My girlfriend offered to paint me in goth makeup. Can't wait )

Anyways, here's where I need help. I have enough stuff to put together a costume, but I don't have the proper bass. I have a MIM white P bass that I've modded with a gold pickguard, pickup cover, thumbrest, flats, etc... kinda making it look like a '57 reissue. My main bass is a Fender Reggie Hamilton sig, sunburst w/ 1/2 rounds. Normally, I don't give a rat's @ss what the bass looks like, as long as my sound and tone are there. While I know that looks aren't as important as sound (trust me, been doing this a while), this is the rare case where looks will be more important than sound. This particular show will be just as much visual performance as aural, and IMHO my basses just don't cut it this time.

Seeing as I don't want to buy a bass for a one-off show, I was wondering if any of you Minneapolis area bassists could help me out. I'm willing to do a temporary (read: No more than a week) swap for a bass that looks metal. I'm willing to loan the P bass in exchange for any bass, preferably black. I will repeat, I'm not interested in buying a bass that fits the bill looks-wise, seeing as I'm only using it for this one show. I thought about an Epi Tbird, but again, logic took over and I realize I won't use it for more than one show.

Anyone willing to trade a bass with me for one week? I'm obviously not going to smash it, since you would have one of my instruments. I was kind of looking along the lines for one of the cheesier looking Dean basses, or even a cheap BC Rich bass. Let me iterate, I don't want to borrow an expensive instrument. I'd need it sometime before August 1st, and could have it back to you the following Sunday (Aug. 3rd). Obviously I will want my bass back from you too.

Any other suggestions? I'm not sure I want to rent a bass from any of the retailers around here, because I'm not sure they have the type of instrument I'm looking for available for rent.

The other option is that I thought about buying a black pickguard for the P and removing all the other stuff (pickup cover, thumbrest, etc...), but I was hoping to use a black bass. I know, sounds stupid.

I have an extremely ugly fretless Westone Steinberger copy - you wanna give that a shot?

Naw, maybe if it were an 80's thing. (I've still got a suit from the eighties that would totally match a headless bass.)
