Very Small (ie portable) Stands That You'd Trust Expensive Basses In?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been using the standard On-stage stands with the telescoping neck holder and tripod bottom. Problem is they're a bit of a mess when taking apart for travel. Anyone know of some very sturdy, very portable stands? Basically I'd like to stick two or three in a gear/duffle bag and not have them take up all the room.

I've tried one of those stands that holds only the bottom of your bass at Guitar Center in the past, but the brand I tried had a really far tilt-back and didn't seem like it could take a light bump and not make your bass fall over. Otherwise it would've been ideal, as they folded flat.

These are pretty sturdy and stable. They fold up really tiny. Available at Guitartrader.com.

Hercules stands

Hercules stands

Hey, those look really compact- the Hercules tri-stand I used to use was very nice (unfortunately it wasn't tall enough for my 35" basses and their bottoms bumped into the stand's legs before it hit the body safety bar).

Have you tried them? I'm curious how well they work with asymetrical bottoms.

They are very compact, although not light weight. I use one and the one guitar player I know used one for acoustic.

One advantage is that they do not touch the neck, just the body of the bass.

Never tried it with anything other than a Fender P though.

I find Hercules to make a superior stand. I use the ones with the shock feature. Not really light, or compact, but worth the extra effort.

This is the best stand I have ever used. It doesn't tip over, because your bass is supported at the headstock instead of balancing on the flimsy bottom piece of a tripod stand.

Ultimate stands are the only electric bass stands I trust.

I have an Ultimate that does the job. Bought 2 of 'em, lost one at a gig.

I still miss my old Hamilton (also lost at a gig, many years back.)

another +1 on the ultimate...it holds the bass by the neck, which is very nice...i also like those ones with the holder at the bottom, and the holder at the neck...those are my favorite although they aren't as portable as it sounds what you are looking for

I've been using an Ultra Guitar stand very similar to this for about 6-7 years with no problems.

Hercules also make this stand - http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/GS414B.html# - which is the one I use. Like the Ultimate, it holds the bass at the headstock but has a really nice auto grab system making it very easy to get your bass on/off the stand.

I have Hercules wall hangers with auto grab system. Really, really nice.

My teacher is using the Hercules stand first posted here right now for his electric. I'm kind of tempted to pick one up myself.
