No. Music means different things to different people, their views on who they think is the best means nothing.

If I did this, it'd be Maiden, Sabbath, Rush, Faith No More, Zeppelin, GNR, Saxon, The Pistols, Floyd and Metallica. Which noone on Earth would agree with.

While it's always interesting to hear people's opinions, they're just that; opinions.

Will most likely be the same kind of farce like voting Joey Jordison best drummer of the last 20 years was.

I'm going to say that VH1 is absolutely correct and that their 100 greatest artists countdown should be held empirically. EVERYTHING THE TV TELLS YOU IS TRUE!

VH1 does this about once every few years, they come out with a new "Best _____ of the Last ______ Years!" It's always bad, hosted by some asinine jack***, and generally includes many of the same artists.

VH1 is quality programming dammit! How dare you speak ill of their geniusly conceived broadcasts! You sir, are probably more of an American Idol guy, aren't you? How much does Fox pay to grease your pockets?

Gee, I really hope they finally add Lady Gag Me, Justin Bieber, The Jonas Brothers, and The Black Eyed Peas to the list.

IMO its hard to compare to musicians of a different genre so they should at least narrow it down if they were to attempt something like this

Man, what happened to MTV and VH1 being about music? All they are is a bunch of reality shows and gossip these days. I miss the days when it was all biographies on musicians, concerts, music videos and the like.

Leonardo Da Vinci would kick all their asses hands down.

Seriously, I'd like to know what their criteria is for the groups to be considered the greatest. I've seen their greatest 100 metal songs and think 90% of the songs suck and that many groups (like Poison, Ratt, Warrant, etc) shouldn't be in any category pertaining to metal.

A quarter says that Michael Jackson is #1, with John Lennon being 2 or 3.
