Victor Wooten's bobble thingy

i didn't really know where to post this but i guess this will do.

I've noticed Victor Wooten uses a bobble on the head-end of his bass. I was just wondering if anyone knew what it does and how you get one that fits nicely over the head and still quite tight on the neck.

And i've also noticed that his brother Regi uses two really big ones, and wondered how he managed to still get notes out of his guitar.

the hair scrunchie things? They use those for muting or dampening the strings when they don't have a free finger, or something along those lines

It's just a standard hair bobble, it's used to mute the notes when tapping.

Nothing special or magical about it and unfortunately if you buy one you will most probably still not sound like Victor Wooten

The main problem is finding one stretchy enough to go over your headstock and tuning pegs.

Cheers

unless it's changing the sound of his bass, it's not an effect
