Volatile musical tastes

Sign in to disble this ad
So about 2-3 years ago I was all about grunge rock. I loved STP, AIC, and the usual bands associated with that genre. Now I am stuck in a fusion/latin phase. Either Weather Report, the Crusaders, Azymuth, Herbie Hancock, and anything new that I find is coming out of my stereo. Has anyone else "changed" so drastically in musical tastes?

This should be in Misc since it is music related...

My tastes span 60+ years of recorded music.... I can (and do) listen to an eclectic mixed playlist all the time. From metal to pop to jazz to country to traditional folk from throughout the world to club/dance/freestyle to you name it!

No(I tend to add stuff but rarely stop liking a prior fave), but why the word 'volatile' in the title?

I listened to a lot of thrash metal last year, now i listen to James Taylor, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Reed, etc. rather drastic change.

The term for me is more "expanding" than "changing". I first started to listen to music more seriously with bands like Ill Nino, Biohazard and Mushroomhead but now it's more about prog, Death metal, fusion/latin jazz, but I still listen to the first bands I started listening to music here and there.

Music taste changes with time, life experience etc. You can still enjoy the band that you used to listen to 20 years ago,but %90 of people wouldn't say its their fav. band after all that time.

I was a metal head,Korn was one of my fav. bands,Marilyn Manson was my saviour when I was young.

Now,Marcus Miller is my fav. musician. After 6~ years I tried to listen to a Korn album in the summer,my ears bled literally...

However,my love for Metallica,Megadeth and Iron Maiden never changed and hopefully never will.

My listening taste runs from the very heavy (Motorhead, Pantera etc) to bluegrass. I've never liked pop and never will. I'm currently in the midst of a sleaze metal revival and listening to Vains Of Jenna, Crank County Daredevils, Confederacy Of Horsepower, Dirty Penny, and other lesser known groups who took the inspiration from Zodiac Mindwarp.
