Hey there,
My name is Ryan Buck and I’m from a band called “Censored.”
To get straight to the point, I’m asking you to vote for my band in a competition. Your vote will help us move on in the competition. You can vote by going to: http://vote.censoredrock.com |It’s completely free to do so, and takes about two minutes. You do have to sign up for an account though, which isn’t really a hassle, but it’s not exactly the most interesting thing you could be doing I know you don’t know me, and I know I really have nothing to offer in return for your help, but frankly, I'm asking for a favor. Please check out my group, our music, and what we’re about, and if you feel like donating a couple minutes of your time, I’d really appreciate it. You can vote once a day, everyday, until the end of April.
Okay, now here are the full details:
My band was chosen for the BodogMUSIC Battle of the bands, (Bodog is also known for their fights and poker) and we’ve got a shot at a one million dollar recording contract. In order for us to continue advancing, we have to get enough online votes, and at this stage in the competition we’re competing against bands nationwide, and are doing pretty well in voting, but I’m fearful we might get edged out by some groups in larger areas. We're based out of Southern Iowa, and I personally live in a town with a population just over five hundred people We got selected for the competition not based upon voting, but judging, and and edged out over 4500 groups to do so.
We play mainstream hard rock, and you can hear our music on our website and myspace, and we encourage you to find out more about the band. After all, it’s kinda tough to ask you to support something you’ve never heard of before.
Here are some ways you can find out more about us:
Website: http://www.censoredrock.com
Mysapce: http://www.myspace.com/censorednation
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/censorednation
Again, all I'm asking for is a couple minutes of your time to go to Bodog's website and vote, http://vote.censoredrock.com - I won't forget your generosity!
Anyhow, I’ll shut up now, and thanks so much for reading. I’m also looking for help and suggestions in reaching a larger audience. If you would forward this to your friends, that would be absolutely amazing! If you have any ideas, or would be willing to help by posting information on a site, radio station, or TV, that would also be great.
Once again, thank you for your time, and if you so desire, I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buck of Censored
Thanks again, and great job with the site. Thanks for letting me post this here!!!

Some local guys and their band - Formula 151- just missed the cut into the finals so I no longer have a horse in the race.
GOOD LUCK!! |

Censored had their humble beginnings in the small town of Milton, IA, just under 4 years ago. Founded by David Birchmier and Matt Cowles, after several lineup changes (read: John Rutsey sat in on the drums for a gig) Censored has seems to have found the perfect mix of members, all in it for the long haul. The band consists of: David Birchmier (vocals) | Ryan Buck (Bass) | Jessie Rush (Guitar) and Matt Cowles (Drums.) (read: Ryan and Jessie, keep a bag packed at all times...)
Over the past year Censored has been making a name for themselves across the Midwest, ranking highly on the local charts and drawing huge crowds across many regions. (multi-read: A: "local charts"?!? Guys, it's 2008 - the only "local chart" is "Son Of Clear-Channel". B) Terminology such as "Local Charts", "Huge Crowds", and "Many Regions" means you're a Pay-to-Play who have a 7:1 Practice-to-Gig ratio, and if you did anything you'd actually name them as opposed to "Local Charts"/"Huge Crowds"/"Many Regions")
Censored released (read: Posted on MySpace) their first single, “Am I Dying or Not?” in mid 2006, an emotionally driven alternative hard rock piece (read: See previous paragraph )that spiked immediate attention in the local and regional scene (read: See previous "Read" ). Songs like “Wrong Road” depict a relationship gone awry, while “Slutty Girl” captures the irony in today’s society, and became a universal favorite amongst Midwest rockers. (read: Fooled 'ya - this is actually Nickleback's Original Bio )
This rapid success (read: Rapid = 4 Years?!?)has allowed Censored to already have shared the stage with huge acts such as: The Ataris, Flaw, Hydrovibe, Machina(Future Leaders of the World), Eyes Set to Kill (read:"Huge Acts"? I should quit now...), and many more (read: David's Bar Mitzvah, a kegger at Ryan's cousin's house).
Censored even owns their own recording studio (read: Matt's basement with a MacBook running GarageBand 3.0 and a set of Musician's Friend mics), where they record, mix, and master all of their songs, entirely within the band. ( www.censoredstudios.com)
With their unique high energy shows, catchy songs, and motivation to match, Censored’s mix of alternative hard rock (read: mix of Alt. hard rock and *what?*) is destined to be a defining force in modern popular music. (read: it worked for Fall Out Boy...) (Edit: if this was posted by a "real" member I'd bite my tongue, but this d-bag joined almost 3 years ago, has posted 53 times, which equals .05 posts per day. If this bio wasn't so terribly generic I'd mark the post as spam.)

That's still really, really harsh. There are plenty of threads where people come in and ask for votes, why does this guy deserve the harassment?
Did you just miss Rule #1 on your high horse? |

Did you just miss Rule #1 on your high horse? | In case you missed my edit to clarify, I have absolutely no problem with helping out members in on-and-offline musical endeavors and have done so many times However, in my book 53 posts in just under three years is hardly a "Contributing Member" of this community and we as a site are being played. If a mod feels my little wordplay is too harsh, delete it along with the OP's post under Rule #7.
...and I wish I owned a horse. |

If this bio wasn't so terribly generic I'd mark the post as spam.) | Ian I enjoyed reading your mockery of our bio, I actually thought it was hilarious, the emullet thing was awesome(kudos). If you find us to be so small and insignificant then why did you spend so much time reading our bio going through our pictures and such? The honest truth is no I don't really care what a nobody in the eyes of the music industry (much like myself) has to say about our bio. Have you honestly taked a few steps back and looked at what you have done...cuz i dont really think you have done anything either except build up a stock pile of pretty good instruments. If you are going to mock our band picture, have the people of the world seen this lovely group of fellas who appear to be well groomed rockstars.
Our recording studio is a Nuendo 3 power system with sound room, 8 track mixer, full set of Shure drum, guitar and vocal mics and high quality monitors. All set up in our practice building with 2400 watt PA pushing 2 18s and two 10 and 15 cabs w/horns.
The charts we speak of are the Myspace chart in alternative, metal and rock where we are within the top twenty in Iowa with each category, most prominent in metal which we are ranked 4th.
We call ourselves alternative hard rock because we cannot think of any normal category that we fit into.
Why dont you come back and tell us what you have done or maybe post a video of you playing. Lets see what you can do and what you have done.
You call yourself a contributing member because you payed the fee to have an avitar and be let into the super special realm of members on this website...so what...really does it honestly matter. All you have done here is rip on another group of musicians because you have nothing better to do with your time.
You are and will forever remain a douche of all douches.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buck, Bassist of Censored
