Warped Tour

I made it alive through the Warped Tour here in Chicago. Great weather, dodged a bullet as they were predicting temps to be 95, but ended up being in the 80's.

Mostly kids at the event from middle school to High School. Older people must have been at Lalapalooza , which was here at the same time.

A lot of great bands most I never heard of (was the oldest person there)

I really enjoyed the Oreskaband, which was really great and refreshing from all the other more mainstream music. They really sounded great.

Katy Perry sucked. She was really out of key the whole show-ouch. Even my teen daughter commented on how out of key she was!! Double ouch!

There was a horrible metal band on before Katy, that I forgot the name of, that had two 7 string guitarists and a 6 string bassist, who all played a million notes per second all in the same tonal range so it just came off as WHITE NOISE, while the singer screamed the whole time. You could not distinguish any of the instruments. I love technical/prog & metal, but they played full speed the whole time in practically the same BPM all at the same intensity!

Other metal bands you could hear the instruments and sounded great. These guys seemed to be out to show off their chops and that was a total wank fest!

Yeah I went too, I got vip tickets from target, so me and a few friends got to go on stage and on some of the buses. I think Oreskaband was the best band there, the bassist was amazing. It was cool cause they served me food before they played, cause we got to eat with some of the bands and stuff.. it was all good.

We got to meet a couple of the Oreskaband after the show, they were so nice and cool. Your right, the bass was so tight, in the pocket and a great cutting tone. She really could play- the whole band was really tight.

I didn't make it to Warped this year, but Oreskaband was one of the top reasons I wanted to go. I first heard them on MTV Japan while getting a haircut, and when I saw they were on the lineup I was so excited, "woohoo, Oreskaband in the States!!"

I've never heard of the Oreskaband till now... good stuff! I used to really like ska when I was in high school (I'm graduating college now ) and this brings back some nice nostalgia. That is really cool that they played the whole freaking length of the tour! That is quite an accomplishment. I am still crying over missing FLOW a while back. They would have absolutely killed at Warped Tour.

Here's an old video explaining why -

Hey I went to Warped Tour in Chicago as well, I wanted to see Oreskaband but I didn't catch them. Saw a lot of other great ones though.
