Washtub bass.

On October 22 and from then on our town is going to welcome acoustic jamming around our gazebo and city parks. Pure acoustic and I do not have an upright so I'm thinking about building a washtub bass. I know -- the ole 401 can not stand any more hobby projects.

Anyone done this and your thoughts.

Thanks,

Never done it, but you should google it. Looks like there a few different kinds you can make with more than one string. I heard that the one stringers are hard to play because you move the stick to vary the tension for different notes. Again, no experience so I may be totally wrong...
I youtubed it and seen a really cool two stringer where the stick looked fully attached to the tub and acted as a fretboard. Try YouTube to see what kind your interested in making. Sorry not much help, but I always thought it'd be cool to make one too!

Edit: after more youtubing, it appears the player moves their hand with the string under their hand against the stick to create the notes on the one string models.
See? What do I know? Ha

Good luck?
