Wayne Shorter Quote
So I recently came across a quote, I forget who it was from (Possibly Wayne Shorter or Miles Davis) and the quote was, "It's not about how many notes you play, but how you play them." I think the goes for bass players even though it probably wasn't directed towards bass players. What do you think? Discuss. :)

I think whoever said it is right.

Yeah, he was right. Someone on TB has a sig quote that's something like, "There's more music in the nuance than the notes." Same sort of idea.

I may be messing this story up... But isn't there a quote from Dizzy Gillespie to a young Steve Bailey ( when he played bass with Diz) along the lines of (paraphrase from poor memory...)
" I don't know what you call that you're playing, but if you left some space in it- some music might fall out"
