WD Music Products ripped me off...

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently ordered a pair of pickguards for Fender basses from pickguards.com(WD Music)... To make a long story short, they scammed me out of $10... When you go to their website, they list a PG for a Fender American Standard P Bass in Black Pearl for $59.95, and a PG for a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Black Abalone for $49.95 - which is what I ordered... I get my order confirmation statement, and they charged me $69.95 for the P Bass pickguard... When I called today to ask about it, I was told that $59.95 was their "internet price", but phone in order price was $10 more - yet, there's no indication ANYWHERE of ANY price difference in regards to ordering method - and I was charged the same price for the Jazz PG as listed on the website...

So, if you're going to order from these people, make sure they don't rip you off - because they will, if given a chance...

Absurd. Call back and ask to speak to a manager. Tell them about this thread, and tell them you'll spread the word to everyone on TB about their poor customer service if they don't make things right.

I agree with you. You got ripped off. Call them back and press the issue with their customer service again in a firm, yet controlled manner. Ask for a manager if possible. Let them know that they did not list price differences between phoning an order in or buying off the net, and you'll be directing a complaint through the proper authorities in your state, or wherever you live, that deal with consumer fraud if worse comes to worse.

Send them email containing the link to this thread.

Edited to add: According to their return policy, the OP would have to pay shipping and a fee.

Add $10 to the price of your bass when you sell it.

It sounds like you ordered via phone. You didn't think to ask what your total was?

With the shipping and variance in the sales tax, he probably didn't notice the extra 10 bucks....

I'm glad I read this today. Come payday I was going to order a new pickguard for my jazz bass through them. Even weirder, I hadn't made up my mind between the Black pearl or abalone yet.

Guess I'll order from someone else now.

If anyone from WD is reading this take note that by ripping him off for $10 you just cost yourself ~$60 from me. Get your act together and start treating your customers with respect.

I just tried that, and was told there was nothing to be done about it, but that they'd advise the owner about my issue with all this...

To make matters worse, after opening up the order, they did a poor job of shaping the Jazz PG, and now I have to return it, and send in a tracing of the original...

Seems to me that making a PG for an American Standard Jazz *shouldn't* be all that difficult... I'll post a pic of it in a little while...

I don't know about anyone else, but this doesn't look worth $50 to me:

I got a tele kit from them for my birthday a few years ago. The neck pocket on the body wasn't cut right and the neck didn't fit properly. I emailed them about it, and they were really nice, they paid for return shipping and then shipped another body in the same color to me immediately. This was back in 2004 though, so they could very well have changed. Good luck with your pickguards!

Bunk, dude. I'd return it, cancel the credit card payment and be done with it. That sucks for sure. WD is the only place I've found to get Kent Armstrong pups. Anyone know of another?

Yeah, I ordered a guard for my MIM Jazz a while back and it needed a LOT of dremel work to fit around the pickups. I don't bother with them anymore.
