Anyone remember this band from the 90s? Are they still around?
I have two of their CDs, "American Thighs" and "Eight Arms To Hold You", then after that I really didn't hear much more about them. I think one of the two girls left after "Eight Arms", beyond that, I don't know much more. |

I lived in Chicago back in the mid-90s and was playing in a band, and we practiced in one of these huge old warehouses that had been split up into a bunch of different rooms. Well one night my band is practicing and we take a break and we hear "Seether" coming from another part of the building... not being played very well at all. So we're wondering who this awful cover band is that's practicing in our building, and at the end of the night we're leaving and out of another room -- carrying a Marshall guitar cab between them -- were the two Veruca Salt girls themselves! Oops. |

Oops. | Lol!! i have a couple of their albums, their last one (that i know of) is the one i liked the best: Resolver. this one came out right after Nina Gordon left the band. I also have Nina Gordon's solo album, tonight and the rest of my life, it's got some good songs in it... I believe james iha from smashing pumpkins played in a couple of tracks. i think they were good friends.
apparently when nina didn't leave the band in good terms...
there was a rumour nina and louise were lovers? don't know if this is true.
ps just googled this. apparently louise reformed the band? http://www.verucasalt.com/bio.php

Was that practice spot called Dress Rehearsal? I remember rehearsing there a lot and Veruca Salt was always there a lot as well.

It sounds like the place you described.
It was ran by an older couple and the man who owned it, name was Don. |

The bassist used some kind of Jaco-looking jazz bass (at least in the videos).

Definitely not near the lake but not in a real scummy area either. Not sure if it was a converted warehouse or maybe it had been an office building too. Big building but only 2 or 3 stories tall IIRC and no elevator. It was our band's 2nd rehearsal location and a definite upgrade from the 1st place we rented which was in a truly scummy part of town just a few blocks from Oprah's TV studio. |

More albums to buy, just what I need. | there's a line in a song from resolver that apparently everyone heard differently... to me it said i would rather die than take your bullets (which actually doesn't really make much sense... if you take my bullets you're probably gonna die... anyways...)
apparently the lyrics said something like "i would rather die than drink your cool-aid"...
edit:just checked the lyrics online... it was actually the other way around...

Nothing x or r rated, just cool stuff.
Alls I know is that they are still doing something albeit with a different lineup.
