Weird hifi speaker project...

So now I've got my hands on a router, I want to have a go at a simple project.

I have four identical sealed 3way HiFi speakers and I want to build 2 cabinets for the drivers to go in. So basically combining Pair A and Pair B into a single pair of 3-way, 6 driver cabinets. This is all going to be sealed, no ports here.

Since I usually have them stacked vertically, I'm thinking of making tall floorstanding cabinets, that are the same size as when they are stacked usually. These cabinets would be separated 50/50 inside by an internal shelf.

Would I gain anything by taking that shelf away, combining the two internal volumes?

Any input or simply telling me I'm nuts would be greatly appreciated
