Welcome back Alice in Chains

Just saw the AIC / Velvet Revolver show in Vancouver last Friday. It has been years since I last saw AIC (when they opened for Van Halen after Facelift, 91-92?). They put on an amazing show, their new lead singer was great. His voice was excellent and his guitar playing made a nice addition to songs like Grind.

Velvet Revolver was also good but I could have left after AIC left the stage and been happy.

Curious if they had the same slide show for Rooster in the US that they did in Canada, ending with a nice condemnation of George W Bush. Seemed very appropriate with that particular song since it was written about the Vietnam War.

Later

Saw them back in mid August, very good show. Same movie/slide show from what I can tell.

Wow, Alice in Chains is already hitting the nostalgia circuit, huh? You know, a lot of these bands who claim to have so much integrity...when they've been out of the public eye for a while, the only way they can make good money anymore is by reforming and hitting the nostalgia circuit, so integrity goes out the window. But this is a mighty quick turnaround for AIC. Bands with integrity usually wait at least twenty years. Skynyrd did before they reformed after swearing they never would.

I saw them and they sucked. Their attitude was the worst and political content is exactly why I go to a concert. BTW, The Rooster was written about Jerry Cantrell's dad.
