My best friend and budding producer has just, soundproofed a very recordable, cosy 5m by 5m basement. And has a budget of around $2,500 $3000 to buy at least 2 guitar amps and 1 bass amp.
What would you buy?
I'm thinking a vox ac15, a fender princeton 65 reverb. - most people around these parts get their overdriven sounds from pedals so I'm thinking of focusing on amps that have good clean sounds.
With the bass option I'm scratching my head a litttle, more out of fickleness than anything. I'd love to hear any other ideas, cheers.

On the guitar front there are a myriad of 15-ish watt tube amps that will be great for recording and suitable for rehearsal. I personally have a Fender Blues Jr, Epi Valve jr, Cornford Harlequin and THD Univalve. they all are killer for recording especially the THD and Cornford!

As for bass an old b-15 is, imo, the holy grail studio amp. wish I had one! I'm interested in the new Ashdown little bastard - I have high hopes for that being a low watt tube amp/recording solution. . .

I personally use my Markbass Little Mark (or Minimark) w/ or w/o a SABDDI and always w/ a DI like a U5 or my Chandler Limited TG2. I'm sure there are more versatile set ups . . .

just my 2¢

i would think something that could be used to reinforce your gig rig,if necessary,or be used as a back up in a pinch
