What is best free sound clip hosting site ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Yes, I searched the entire TB site:

"free soundclip hosting sites" etc. Variations of that. Nothing good came up.

What is best free sound clip hosting site ? Ideally the one where I can put the link in the post so the sound clip opens up without having to go to another site.

Thanks much

You could use filedropper.com; that gives you a link to a page to download it (no wait times; just go to the URL and click download file). I don't know off hand of any free file hosting sites that give direct links to MP3s or WAVs for playback in the browser. Someone else may know.

You could always find a free file host and upload to that. There are some really good ones out there, but the best free hosts usually require posting in a forum for a certain amount of time. That's just an option to explore if you will be hosting a lot of clips. The down side of that is watching out for bandwidth usage and max file sizes. Maybe filelan.com? I don't know how reliable they are, but it's free and could be worth a shot.

---

I think I just understood what you meant by not going to another site; I don't know about doing that. It seems as though you'd have to embed some sort of flash into the website. That might work here; just depends on whether or not it's enabled. I've seen forums (notebookreview.com) that allow people to embed YouTube videos, so any other flash applet may also work.

If you want to get your own site running, you could setup that application at flashmp3player.org. It looks slick and allows for soundclip playback right in the browser (but requires Flash).

It all just depends on what you're looking to do.

I've been using divshare. Its' embedded player doesn't integrate well with talkbass for some reason, but it works great with my website & other web pages. It also has multiple options to embed, share, email or link. I believe you get a gig free storage!

Yeah, unfortunately I haven't figured out how (or if it's possible) to use flash in a tb post. Divshare's flash embedded player works really well. It actually offers 5gb of free storage btw...

Anyway, here is how it works in tb (a clip I did to showcase the added pickup in my Epiphone Rivoli) It does play it in the page that opens:

DivShare File - rivoli pickups.mp3

Try dropbox. Use the "Public" folder for files to be direct linked for playback in a browser. 2GB of free storage and 10GB/day bandwidth limit on public links for free accounts.

I've been using it successfully for a few months now to host some mp3s for an embedded flash player on a facebook band page.
