Is it the witty reparte?
Is it the plethora of pictures of basses you shouldn't be trying to afford?
Is it the effects?

And TPA...

To see what folks will say next

Me?

I always get a kick out of the "my bass is better than your bass" type threads, or the "this guy sucks and the guy I like doesn't suck" type threads.

It's great to exchange info and ideas, to find out what folks think about particular basses and gear, music, techniques, etc., and to see some pics of some great equipment.

Finally, I paid the money .. might as well use it!

Alan

Pick any of those. If he doesn't birdhunt, too bad. If he doesn't smoke a tobacco pipe, too bad.

When I first came to TB in about 1998 (Last Century!!) - it had none of those things!!

I came here to find out about how to play Jazz bass and there were people who were able to give a lot of good advice about this

Well, I still moderate in recordings, so I at least make sure stuff is happening there. Lately I've been posting verbose rants every time a newbie asks for any help in GI and techniques. I also really enjoy the discourse in the TPA, which is entertaining.

I don't care about gear. I don't care about amps or strings or effects or gigs. I'm more interested in music and the people that use this site. Also, it's a good use of time. Waste...use...what's the diff?

And, though I haven't been sharing much lately, I like to come here to share my music.

For the life of me, I can't remember how I got here. I just seem to have ended up here about 5 years ago or so, and have enjoyed the interaction, friends made, and conversations had ever since.

Thanks...I saw them live last Sunday for the first time, and everything you said is true. They've always been a fave for me, so it was great to see them live.
