Just a good ol' instrument cable. Dont worry too much about the brand. Any decently made, shielded cable will do just fine.

Well, playing a minor chord when the song's in a major key is a major faux pas.....

Generally cables don't really matter, they all "sound" the same no matter what brand you use. The only real differences are in the quality of the cables and their longevity. In that regard Whirlwind and Monsters are the best.

i had a peavy instrument cable that i bought when i bought my first bass and it worked wonderful.......until our roadie lost it for me...

Cables are generally just hit or miss for me. Some last for years, others go for a couple of months then crap....

Thanks everybody for your opinions. I've read in the Bass magazines about different cables, etc. and I was wondering if the expensive ones are really worth the $$. Doesn't sound like it! Thanks.
More opinions are welcome...please.

I'm quite happy with Kordex cables, and I rather like their fabric weave, and life time warranty.. I've never had to replace one so they're quite well made, especially when you consider their price..

I completely disagree. Cheap cables will muddy lows and roll off highs. That said, I can't tell the difference in a $50 and a $150 cable. As long as it's solid and made from quality wire you should be fine.

What was the "thing" that made you try them and keep using them?
I'm currenty using Monster and Planet Waves cables. I can't tell the difference in the two.

That very fact.. the Monster that I have (still have it, but it's put away) cost me $125.. and this one was 1/10th the cost.. and I cannot tell a bit of difference.. plus I like the fabric covered cable better.. feels nicer.

Yup, I am done buying expensive cables. Bayou Cables are all I buy now. You get a good cable, at a good price, and youre helping out a Tber in the process; win/win/win situation.

Thumbs up

Love my Bayou Audio Cables. Butch is a real nice guy, makes a real nice cable and doesn't try to sell you something you don't need. He'll tell the story straight when discussing what's important about different aspects of audio cables. He's a no nonscence kind of guy. I too have two Monster Cables I need to sell. They are fine, but they are 11' long and I need them longer than that. Oh yeah, they sound no better than any other decent cable.

Buy Bayou Audio Cables. You help out a nice guy who's not going to BS you, AND you get a top notch cable too!

Any good instrument cable will be fine, but my big recommendation is to get one with a right-angle plug on one end. Unless you have some kind of recessed jack (and even there, it sometimes work--right-angle plugs fit into a strat, for example), right-angle plugs are more secure and just plain look better.

Durable ones. Look for Neutrik or Switchcraft plugs. Belden and Canare cable is good. If it costs $10, it's crap. If it costs $20 it's probably OK. If it costs $50+, it's overpriced, but most cables in that price range have unconditonal guarantees (replace for free). That'd be like Monster or Mogami.

I like Live Wire and Whirwind cables. Good quality, fair price, guarenteed for life.

Though the new Planet Waves Circuit Breaker cables are awesome.

Cables

I like Zaolla Silverlines, they sound great and haven't failed me yet, I've been using them for the last couple of years.
