What to Do While in Nashville?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm heading to Nashville from April 15th through the 17th.

Any suggestions for music-related things to do while I'm there? What music stores should I visit? What are the best bars/hangouts for live music? Any places that should be avoided? Anybody know of anything going that weekend that shouldn't be missed?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Best way to get a jump on what's happening that weekend is to probably check the listings of the local altweekly - Nashville Scene

... if I were going, I'd try to find out if some of my favorite Nashville-based musicians, like Larry Carlton, Vic Wooten, Bela Fleck, Phil Keaggy, Jeff Coffin, Kenny Anderson, etc., were playing locally. I'd also check out the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

And don't forget about http://www.bluebirdcafe.com/ - legendary place for up and coming singers and songwriters

If you are in town on a Monday, check out the Time Jumpers at a club called The Station, that is if they are still there. They are perhaps the worlds finest example of country swing, that is, if you can get into that.

Looks like they are still there. I wish I could check them out, but I'm only there Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Thanks for the heads up though! Looks like a cool place.

For music stores, check out Corner Music. JD has a great selection of basses.
