I have a couple of those I use - I cut 2" off the seat tube (the one attached to the legs) with a hacksaw and they're just right now .

In the recording process, I work best when I'm recording myself, so I sit in a computer chair.

I am another one who just stands. It feels more natural and I probably spend too much of my life sitting down anyway.

Usually an armless stuffed, swivel chair like this one. Pay no attention to the bass. Oh wait... I'm talking to a bunch of bass players. You guys care a whole lot more about the bass than you do the chair.

I don't have a good place to sit. I settle for the edge of the couch or I'll just stand. Until I find that ball...

I stand unless my legs and feet are tired then I rest my butt on the edge of a tall bar stool. I am still standing and my bass is hanging where it should be but I take a little load off my feet.

I use the lower version of one of these:

Kind of a cross between a drum throne and a stool.

Nice tip, I'll see if I chop some length off. I thought it was odd when it didn't go lower. What if a drummer has short stubby legs?

I stand when I practice because I stand for 4 hours when I perform.

It's easier to play from a sitting position, I don't want to create a false sense of my abilities.

I try lying on my back. I just don't get drunk first.

Okay folding metal chair, just like band class at school back in the day. I stand for rehearsals and performances if allowed

If I'm noodling, I'll sit on any convenient chair; so long as it doesn't have arms, I'm good.

...but if I'm practicing, I stand.

I sit on the arm of my couch upstairs, sitting on the couch allows me to "sink in" too much and makes it a pain to play. In the basement at my workbench I have an extra barstool I sit on which isn't bad. Most of the time I just stand though, because it's what I'm used to.
