What is G.A.S?

Hello,

I have seen the term GAS and G.A.S on the forum and I just can not figure out what is means or what it stands for.
Can anyone help me out with this?

I seems to have something to do with equipment you want, but I am not sure.

Thanks
John

Yep, by golly, that's GAS alright!

I have suffered from this debilitating disease for 40 years.

I tried renting out my spleen once to buy a bass amp I wanted.

There were no takers.

pflash4001 03-11-2013 12:11 AM

I've had a chronic case of GAS for over 25 years...

If someone told me they would give me a vintage Ric for my right eye I would be ordering an eye patch right now. :) that my friend is the definition of GAS.

At least it was money well spent. Darkglass makes some seriously cool stomp boxes!

Hell, I'd trade a kidney for another USA Spector NS-2, and I already own one!

bassteban 03-11-2013 12:23 AM

Buying a bass/amp/pedal/geegaw that may well induce a breakup/divorce/beating/several-week-long poonstriction. Not regretting it

That's exactly what it means. :hiding: Not that there's anything wrong with going crazy over gear... In fact, I feel my GAS is coming back ever so slowly after a few months of not thinking at all about gear.

mjac28 03-11-2013 12:33 AM

I was thinking about becoming a prostitute(just on the weekends) to get some vintage Ampeg gear but I guess it's illegal in some places?

dangerouscello 03-11-2013 09:07 AM

Most places I think, lol. But that gear is CALLING

Doley50 03-11-2013 09:08 AM

Got it ! thanks guys! I just started playing the electric bass after playing upright for 15 years and in a few months I have already purchase a new bass and a multi FX pedal, I am glad my wife does not know what equiment I had before. " Oh that, I had that for a while I just never needed it!"

dalkowski 03-11-2013 09:15 AM

Those of us with significant others know this rule of GASeous dynamics:
It's easier to say "I'm sorry" than to ask permission.

phillybass101 03-11-2013 09:16 AM

Since joining TB in 2011 I have purchased the following:

Bass #1 $600
Bass #2 $800
Head #1 $1095
Bass #3 specs out to $3795
want to purchase bass cabs at $1200

This my friend is G.A.S. at it's best.

I'm not even a good player, but since I started coming to TB I've been buying and selling like crazy. My wife calls me a gypsy since I'm constantly driving around buying and selling bass gear.
