I own a Roadrunner ($40-50), pretty spacious with reasonable padding, it fell over quite a few times but my bass was always safe. After many years of commuting in NYC (and ducking as I passed a turnstile or a low ceiling), its wearing out, and I'm looking for a gig bag that's nicely padded and has large pockets, able to fit at least a real book and my cable.
Own a gig bag and love it? Had one that you actually wanted to throw in a bonfire? Pour your heart out. |

They feel pretty substantial, but I haven’t taken one out since I got a second h/s case for the backup. I used one to pack two LED mega strips in with the related cabling.
I got a pretty nice TKL with a used bass from GC, and have used it (case) since.

Bags bend - hard cases don't.

More compact and convenient for transporting two basses to a gig than separate hard cases. I don't feel I am losing much protection either, especially considering I handle my own gear. With roadies I might want something more durable. |

A friend of mine had a ProTec bag so I looked into them. Very reasonable as far as pricing goes and it's the best bag that I've owned.

I have an Igig single and it is my favorite bag by far. Killer protection and the best neck support I have ever seen in a bag and I have owned and used almost all of them.

... wore out a very older-model Fodera with the center sling strap, best soft-bag i ever had.
i'm definitely old-school in this area: i am not a fan of backpack strap designs whatsoever- tough to navigate on subways, stiles, cabs, basement clubs, crowds etc, and there's not a lot of alternatives to that style now...
but even so, hands down, my new investment is pretty life-enhancing: i got a Reunion Blues Continental bag last year, and i'll never look back- it's the most protective bass body armor ever.. i taped the 2 backstraps together and sling-style it all over town. 100% protection from anything Gotham can dish out. |

It's got a lot of padding inside, as well as an oversize, padded handle. Very easy to carry. I also have a Fender double gig bag, which is flimsy, and a Musician's Friend bag, which is OK but cavernous inside, especially for a 4-string.

Lots of protection, somewhere between a soft bag and a hard case (wont bend). Pocket fits my cords and Genz Shuttle head (though pocket isn't padded). Real book would fit no problem, as I occasionally carry a fat 3 ring binder in it.

Both are very well built bags that for the years I've been using them, still look brand new. The only thing I do to them is spray some leather waterproofing stuff on them every couple of years. |

| | | | Warwick rock bag is nice and long, fits my longest basses. I prefer hard cases for most of my stuff but depending on the gig, I'll use the bag for the backpack straps. Nice to have. Best bag I've owned. Padding is great, zippers are crazy durable. One of the backpack straps has started to tear away from the body now, but I've owned the bag for something like 10 years, so I guess I can deal with that. I'll probably replace it with another Rockbag, though I confess I'm looking through this thread to see what else is out there. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
