| | | | What happened to funk? Is it dead? I seriously haven't heard of a funk artist that came from the 2000s. Even RHCP have removed the funk from their playing recently. What's the big deal here? |

I have been going to see Tower since 72' |

I think of radio/popular music like McDonalds - it's a generic taste, more available to the masses than anything of real value to your hunger.
To find the taste YOU crave, you have to look, sample different things and find the things that really make you satisfied.
Don't believe popular music is all the music - is a Big Mac the only burger in the world?
The Bros Johnson, Bootsy, Larry Graham, George Clinton, The Isley Bros, etc etc etc...There's funk! Bring out a swinging slap riff at your next gig - there's some more funk! Cheers! |

Nothing wrong with the old old but I love me some new and you just might too. This won't be strictly funk but it'll be plenty funky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBbwf6NFipg - Buy everything they've done - now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSKWgB3lWaU - Really unique voice, great groove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18Mtcem90_k - LOVE THIS GUY! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA8dDzRKSyQ - One of the many groups in the east keeping the groove alive. Usually, they're tracks are vocal and in Japanese but this one in instrumental. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6iztA7EfEs - Another great Japanese group http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3pjXoDBqMM - Damn sexy tune. Sick musicianship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO2_eRos8oc - Ok, I know this guy is a bassist and all but he is LEGIT funky and I don't seem to hear too much about him on the forums. That said, he's not exactly the best at titling his tunes, haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQRV0c1KXYc - One of those unknowns that everyone should know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XVweyoy42Y - More hip-hop needs to be like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pYHL...eature=related - Snarky Puppy. Seriously, nuff said.
I could go on an on but check these folks out .

| | | To me personally, Funk( the original70s kind) is and has always been quite irrelevant, but as long as people like to listen to it and like to play it , it'll be around and keep relevant to those people.( I know.. stating the obvious )
