What have you GASed for in '05?

Sign in to disble this ad
Everyone seems to have their own '05 thread, and I didn't want to get left out. I may be obsessive, but I've spent many nights laying awake thinking about basses I'd like to own. I even drew up a "gas list" broken down by catagory at one point.

Anyway, these are basses that I was preoccupied with for at least a week, not just "I saw a picture and thought it was pretty." I lost interest in many of these basses rather quickly. It's a good thing I'm not rich, or I'd have a pile of basses I'm bored with. Let see if anyone can top this.

Ibanez ATK
Cort Curbow
MM Bongo HHP 4 (major GAS)
MM Stingray
LeCompte everything
Epi T-Bird (don't know how that one got in there... it's not my style at all)
Ibanez EDA900
Dingwall Afterburner (bought one)
Ibanez BTB405 (bought one... bored with it)
Ibanez Musician (almost bought it)
Modulus Flea
Dingwall Super J (maybe when I'm rich)
Fender MM Jazz (would have bought it if I could afford it)
Knuckle Quake (major GAS)
Peavey G-Bass
Peavy T-40 (almost bought one)
SX Jazz (the price is just so attractive)
G&L L-2500
Tobias Growler (almost bought this instead of the BTB... glad I didn't)
MTD Kingston/Heir (should have bought this instead of the BTB)
MTD American (good thing I can't afford it)
Roscoe SKB-3500 (played one and LOVED it)
Wal anything
Hamer 2-Tek Jazz
Rob Allen Mouse
Skjold everything
Warmoth Carved top P/MM

The funniest thing about this is I play guitar as much as bass, and I've been perfectly happy with one solidbody electric, and one acoustic for years.

The bass I have gassed for the most since 2004 has been the Lakland 55-94/55-02. I finally got a used one this month and I am enjoying it. It is a great bass. Not the living end, but a really nice and versatile bass that is worth holding on to. I'm glad the bass that had my GAS turned out to be pretty good after all.

I want a Skyline Glaub so bad I can taste it, but one of my babies will have to leave the stable before it'll happen for me...damn it.

MTD 535 or 635 in one of those beautiful satin red, blue or natural finishes.

Tobias. 4, 5, 6 string, any finish. As long as it is pre-Gibson. Well, I even like some of them too! I guess maybe it doesn't really count though as I have been gassin' for Mike's basses for over 15 years!

Seriously?

Something unusual in seafoam green- like a T-bird or Azola Eurocoustic upright(w/purple flames, of course). Oh- and a HUGE rig, a gig where it would be appropriate & the youthful exuberance & intact lower back to lug it.

Hmmm..the what I've GASed for list is too long to write. How about a "What I HAVE NOT GASed for, despite an ENORMOUS amount of spam on TB regarding these products"

Avatar Cabs (you get what you pay for)

Shroeder Cabs (I'm sure they are great for some, but from the descriptions I've got from those I trust, they are not the sound for me)

SX Basses (see the above "you get what you pay for")

Kustom Groovebass (once again....see above)

OLP basses (Given a choice between these and an SX, I'd reluctantly take the SX)

Behringer gear of any sort.
