What hearing aid are you using?

I reached the point in my life that I will need a hearing aid for at least my left ear. Also have tinnitus.

Wanted to ask members on what hearing aids you are using. I am in the process of doing fairly extensive research and specifically want to address how music is handled with different hearing aids.

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering about that myself. I see the day coming - maybe sometime in the next 10 years - where I'll be needing one. I've also got tinnitus, a constant, high-pitched whine which never ends. It's the price you pay for having grown up in the second half of the 20th Century! Keep us posted, Gintaras.

I am starting a new dietary type plan for tinnitus. Starting tomorrow the coffee is stopping and B12 shot every tuesday. Also there is some research on using some herbal medicines such as Ginkgo Biloba that I am looking at. A friend of my wife's specialize in the area and she is going to help me through this research. I will keep this thread updated on what I find and how I feel.

I also have a client of mine that works as a hearing tester and she is going to help with my quest for the hearing aid. (my problem is ostly the left ear).

I am deaf in my left ear and have a loss in my right ear, I wear a hearing aid on my right air, it is a Senso Diva. www.widexusa.com I love mine, it has 3 modes, one that will cut all background noise out, one for phone use and one for full blown musical mode, it really helps with seperating the sounds of the instruments and stuff. All digital, completely programmed to help with my hearing in picking up sounds I cannot normally hear.

My wife used to use the Senso Diva SD-CIC and now uses the Senso Diva SD-XM ITE/ITC. She much prefers the latter.

Hearing aids/auditory issues

I have had a hearing aid in my left ear for about 4 years, I should by rights have one in my right ear now as well. Initially I got the left ear cause it's the one I hold the phone up to...I one-eared when it comes to phones. Mine is a GnResound Sonus In-the-ear. It has 3 programs and it has been OK. However my hearing loss is mostly from 2K up and the new, trendy, and overpriced BTE open fit units are well suited to my type of hearing loss....too much Stairway to Heaven played on my special spinal tap stereo that goes all the way to 11!
I really like to new GnResound and Sonus BTE open-fit hearing aids. Noise cancellation, multiple programs, multiple frequency band adjustment, and good battery life.
Only Problem is that a pair of them is roughly on a par with a new Rob Allen Mouse, and a Phil Jones Bass 6 pack!
