Just wondering about some of the interesting Hold or Elevator Music you may have heard before. I'm not referring to a radio station playing while you're on hold, but when a song has been re-arranged in an "easy-listening instrumental" way.
The reason I bring this up... This past weekend, my wife called a clothing company's customer service 800 number. Anyway, after being on hold for awhile, she put it on speakerphone. I listened to the tune for a few seconds then started singing along with it. My wife asked me what I was doing & if I was making it up on the spot. I told her it's a real song, The Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop, but rearranged in an "elevator-music format". She does not know The Ramones and certainly wouldn't have known Blitzkrieg Bop. After her phone call I played it for her.

A full elevator music version with strings was playing of the Jeff Beck tune, "Going down". I stayed on the elevator past my stop and in fact road it up and down until it finished playing. It was surreal. |

"Your call is very important to us. Please remain on the line and your call will be answered in priority." --music-- Then the recorded message repeats again.

I was thinking somehow akin to a cargo hold...
I never get cool music while on hold- its always CRAP, and usually LOUD

Mostly though, it's just "The Girl From Ipanema", which drives me nuts. I wish the bitch would just p*** off back to Ipanema and leave us all in peace. |

I'd love to see the look on the faces of the gig attendees when that starts. "I think I know this song, and for some reason it's making me feel very angry and exasperated....."
