What Interesting Hold/Elevator Music have you heard?

Just wondering about some of the interesting Hold or Elevator Music you may have heard before. I'm not referring to a radio station playing while you're on hold, but when a song has been re-arranged in an "easy-listening instrumental" way.

The reason I bring this up... This past weekend, my wife called a clothing company's customer service 800 number. Anyway, after being on hold for awhile, she put it on speakerphone. I listened to the tune for a few seconds then started singing along with it. My wife asked me what I was doing & if I was making it up on the spot. I told her it's a real song, The Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop, but rearranged in an "elevator-music format". She does not know The Ramones and certainly wouldn't have known Blitzkrieg Bop. After her phone call I played it for her.

About twenty (maybe twenty-five) years ago I stepped onto an elevator of an office building. A full elevator music version with strings was playing of the Jeff Beck tune, "Going down". I stayed on the elevator past my stop and in fact road it up and down until it finished playing. It was surreal.

I heard "fearless" by pink floyd, the album version, in an elevator at a holiday inn.

Made me lol. The DJ looked up classical covers of the songs listed for me.

No. "Hold" is when you're kept on the phone line waiting for the other party to pick up.

"Your call is very important to us. Please remain on the line and your call will be answered in priority." --music-- Then the recorded message repeats again.

About 25 years ago I heard a Muzak version of Weather Report's Birdland in a Publix in Coral Gables.

*DOH*
I was thinking somehow akin to a cargo hold...
I never get cool music while on hold- its always CRAP, and usually LOUD

I once heard a musac version of "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" (Kate Bush) in a shopping centre. That's a fairly obscure song anyway, so I was surprised to say the least.

Mostly though, it's just "The Girl From Ipanema", which drives me nuts. I wish the bitch would just p*** off back to Ipanema and leave us all in peace.

I had the idea of covering the song you hear on hold with the IRS. I'd love to see the look on the faces of the gig attendees when that starts. "I think I know this song, and for some reason it's making me feel very angry and exasperated....."
