According to Jeff Berlin, auditioning for Frank Zappa was the hardest thing he ever played in his life. Frank himself said that his longtime bassist Scott Thunes was a complete a$$, hated by everyone, but FZ kept him on the payroll because he was the only guy who could play his stuff.

Some of the trombone / bass soli on Stan Kenton charts are pretty wicked. Especially if you are trying to sight-read them.

Doubling the original bass line from the Doors' LA Woman is the hardest bass line that I've MOSTLY been able to play.

"Hello Jeff" off of Stanley Clarke's Journey to Love album was hard for sheer speed.

"Tarkus" the title track off of ELP's album was hard for length and format.

12 bar blues. Simple enough to do, but with enough substitutions and other little tricks you can really make that one as hard as you want it to be, so technically you could say that it has infinite difficulty.
