| What makes country drumming sound "country"?

I'm currently listening to "Railroad Man" off the new Eels album, which has this country-ish drum beat going on. I can play a bunch of simple drum lines (and what I can't play I can program) and was wondering how to come up with drum beats that sound "country". As far as I know, country rhythms always seem to have a 16th note pulse, more snare hits than rock grooves and very simple bass drum patterns. Any advice on how to understand country beats? Lots of thanks in advance. |
