What motivates you to keep pushing?

I'm going a little stir-crazy with my own problems with music.....writing isn't working, my playing is showing me how repetitive I am with riffs....

This all comes down to my question, what motivates you to keep pushing? I mean as far as playing, working, gigging, technical development, you get the idea.

Nothing. Haven't picked up my bass in over a year.

I should fix that.

For me it is just the drive to get better. I don't have issues with self motivation.

For me, it's a hobby. If it's not convenient, I don't do it. I get around to it again after a while.

For me peoples indifference and condescension towards my accomplishments -essentially the "Haters" be they friends -family-whatever-
as far as inspiration for writing- that comes from different places-
When I have in the past had difficulty finding inspiration or creativity- I started to do beats- on a seq/sampler.
That made me hear things I couldn't pull out with my guitar alone-
Don't be afraid of simplicity- or repetitive lines!!! That is the easiest way to write a song- color it in after you have the song structure and lyrics(if applicable) in place.
That way you have a narrower focus as far as what you have to create!
