What musicians do you admire beyound their musical ability as a person ? I have alot of respect for Jason Newsted working with young kids to help in their musical development.

Hard to say without knowing any famous artists in person, but the first name that popped into my mind when I read this question was Stevie Wonder. The lyrics in his songs just couldn't be written by someone else than a wonderful person.

You mean the South Park episode where they bust the little kids in their underwear downloading their music?

Seriously-

Mike Watt a humble and really giving guy
the Dixie Chicks for going against the grain and speaking their minds.

Bono.

... just kidding. South Park is right, no matter how much good he does, he still comes off as a douche. I'll back the Mike Watt comment, after he played, he came out and hung out with everyone.

A Wilhelm Scream.

Any band who jumps into the crowd after their set and thanks their fans is awesome in my book.

Plus, the show killed.

i gotta second the dave grohl nod. he really does just seem like a good guy. also, even though i don't always agree with him, tim commerford. if what i hear is true, he's very committed to his convictions and i have to admire that. even if he comes off as a jerk

Victor Wooten. Since watching his clinic on BP's site, I've realized that he has some great insight into making music-not just playing bass guitar.

+1 to Alice Cooper because he always comes across as a great guy, same with Dave Grohl. Jesse Keeler always seemed like a nice bloke, especially in his forum posts. Scott Reeder (Kyuss, The Obsessed, Sunn O))) ) has a lot of time for chatting to people on forums too which I think is great. Brant Bjork was a friendly guy when I met him.

Tony Levin just seems very down to earth and legit, as well as humble and friendly.

Victor Wooten. Such a warm, genuine person. He seems like a man who has just devoted his life to the force of "good".

My Father. He helped pay his way through college playing sax and clarinet in a swing band back in the 1940's.

Let the flaming begin - as a public figure, I admire Tommy Lee simply for living the life of a rockstar that so many people dream of in their teen years. Right or wrong, you can't fault him for sticking to what he loves at all cost.
