What no case?

I just got my MF Holiday Catalog. I'm noticing that many basses and some fairly expensive ones don't come with a case. And some basses don't even come with a gig bag, you have to pay extra for that. You'd think they would ship them in a case for better protection. Me personally, I'd rather pay an extra hundred dollars in the cost of a bass to be assured it ships in a case. I'm sure most basses are packed fairly well and get shipped with few problems. I have read threads on TB that some basses have arrived damaged. I'm not in the market for a bass so I'm not complaining. Just an observation. What do you guys think?

I rather not have a case because I have one i got for free i use, plus if a bass arrives damaged i send it back no cost for a new one , so its not a big deal to me.

I buy used basses often tho , alot of times sellers will have a case they will include for an extra 50$ or so , so i buy it and get my bass protected the way home and sell it locally after i get my bass

I agree, I think it's kinda messed up.

And for those who wish to try the method, if you buy a bass and a case seperately on MF, they will not put it in the case, they'll just ship them seperately in boxes of their own.

I bought a Fender road worn bass that came with a Fender soft shell bag. I added an SKB hard shell case for $100. Either way I always try to get a hard shell case. Its the cost of owning a nice instrument and keeping it that way .

I've never bought a bass that came in a case. I've never had one arrive damaged.
