I didn't say play fluently or anything, but let's hear it. I have an insatiable appetite for learning everything I can.
I can get around on:
Electric Guitar (blah, however not in a traditional sense..more with E-Bows, loop stations, cello bows and so on)
Acoustic Guitar (i'm somewhat competant at this, at least I think)
Piano/Synth (I've got a little Alesis Micron which is loads of fun, and a nice digital keyboard to putz around on)
Vibes (they sound so, so cool- luckily someone in the family had an extra set I was able to get for really cheap)
I'm interested in picking up a musical saw or glockenspiel/orchestra bell set to get some licks in on. Although bass is what I do, I can't get enough of playing all these instruments. It is also fun to switch it up midset every now and then and take a break from bassin' it (blasphemy?!)
So let's hear it..what else do you do to vent your pent up musical emotion? |

On another note (no, that's not a pun), I've been trying to play an acoustic 6-string for a time, but...well, that's not going so well, so that probably wouldn't count just yet, eh?

I played upright bass for a while, some keys, organ. I can bang on drums decently too.

I took drum lessons for about two years when I was in junior high and then in college I picked up guitar. I started playing bass about 7 years ago when I started writing and recording with a friend and I really haven't touched a guitar since then.

I played tuba in high school (even got to perform in Carnegie Hall my senior year) but the prohibitive cost keeps me from continuing it. I don't have a piano currently, but I do have a '65 Hammond M-100 organ, which is a whole lot of fun. I just have an acoustic guitar- I plan to pick one up from Rondo Music eventually. I even want to get into fretless guitar. I also have a mandolin and ukulele, and play around with those occasionally. |

| | | | I've been able to make some kind of sounds that are interesting to me with every instrument I've been able to touch.
I played trombone for a few years back, in the school band an everything. I was glad I quit after I heard this joke...
Why is a dead snake in the road more tragic than a dead trombonist in the road?
1. The snake may have been on the way to a recording session.
2. There are skid marks in front of the snake. |

What's the difference between a dead drummer in the road and a dead bassist in the road?
There are skid marks in front of the bassist! |

| | | | Here's a trombone-only one:
How can you tell that a kid on a playground is a trombonist's kid?
He can't swing and he complains about the slide.
One of my favorite past times is going to ska shows and hurling insults at trombonists in between songs. |
