When my guitarist writes, it's mostly cheesy love songs.

The supernatural came up a lot in terms of lyrical subject matter; mutant powers, sasquatch, telekinesis, etc.

As far as arrangements, we like breakdowns like cheesy hair metal bands like finger tapped guitar solos.

I generally like songs that tell stories.

Man, I missed that too.

Uh... my turn ons tend to be the following:

hand claps
string sections
high pitched background vocals
drummers with groove
Passionate vocal delivery

See 70's glam rock for the archetype.

Same here. When asked how we go about creating a song, I usually say that a song has to either tell a story (i.e. Time), or paint a portrait (i.e. Californication) to get somewhere.

I have no idea what the lyrics are to our songs. All I know is there is one breakdown in each song apart from our take the piss song where there are 3 breakdowns.

there seems to be a reoccurring theme of evil women in a lot of our stuff. i dont write a word of it, but ive pretty well inferred that my singer went from blatantly writing about the deception and torment of the female gender to approaching it in a more poetic fashion. the song about dracula is less about dracula.. moreso about bloodsucking evil women.

theres a lot of undertone of his past mistakes.

then theres a song about army of darkness. and a sort of carpe diem, we ****ing rule anthem. lately he's questioned his faith and told the story of men at war. so it varies, really. some deep, some not.

i have an old demo.. one of the lyrics is "and i wish everything you saw in me was dead and gone".

a new one is something like "trust me now, im a better man. how many mirrors must i look into before i find the man you want?"

he's grown up quite a bit.
