That is not as bad at the $800 Behringer bass amp on the Seattle CL.

understand that CL is full of people that do not take the time to research gear prices or they believe that they can 'get away' with some of the prices they post. others purposely over-charge so they have room for the ever so present 'bargaining' that is sure to go on. most people aren't too offended if you politely call them on some of the prices...some just don't know.

Last year I had a guy list one of those up here for for $800CDN. I emailed him and told him what the going price was and he had no clue. Once he'd looked around a bit to see what they typically go for, he sold it to me at the price I offered.

Could be the same deal here.

I dealt with one local guy who was selling a G&L Tribute L2500. He wanted like $700 for his. Granted, this was around the time the price was increased, but I was quite certain his was before then, and he was just trying to squeeze extra cash out of it. I called him out on it, and he wouldn't budge to a more reasonable price.

Long story short, I looked some more and ended up getting EXACTLY what I wanted from some guy in Nashville.

So you know, even if you try to bargain, they can still be stupid.

Many people think that because they paid full retail for a bass, plus full retail on a case/bag, strap, crappy 15W practice amp and strings/full setup, you too should pay them the nearly $1k they got hosed into paying for their nearly new Squier Affinity package!

I agree that most people just don't know what their stuff is worth. After their item sits with no interest (excapt emails from people like us telling them they are crazy), most people begin to get reasonable IMO.

They're worth about $500 tops. They're excellent basses.

He needs the money bad and figures someone will be stupid enough to pay for his troubles. He's probably right.

I have a pair of sneakers I wore twice to church. Upgraded with Nike laces and Dr. Scholls gell pads. Paid $75, yours with upgrades for $90.

As every one knows, Music Man stopped making these fantastic bass guitars when they realized that they were all too close to their legendary Stingray Bass at a tiny fraction of the price! So, now you can pay several times the price and get a shinier paint job and a few other minor differences, but ultimately get an instrument not a whole lot noticeably different in tone or playability than THIS one at a FRACTION of the price!
That last sentence makes my head hurt.

Nice basses, I sold one for about $500 a little less than a year ago, so he's a little overpriced, but i've seen far far worse on craigslist... yes I saw a rogue for $450.

My general rule of thumb is I only buy stuff on ebay that is less than I'm willing to flush down the toilet. It's sad too because there is some really good stuff out there, but the hacks make it tough to sift through the rubble.

So I usually just buy new. Mfg. warranty and equips that have not had abusive hands all over it is a good thing! and I'll pay the difference almost every time.

The ad copy used makes absolutely no sense. With his price, you could actually buy a regular Stingray.

BTW, this SUB Sterling is very nice. Slightly pricey, but it's the Sterling and it's white, which is a fairly hard to find color on the SUBs. If I had the extra $$$ I might buy it, but unfortunately I don't.

I sent the seller an email and politely pointed out that his price was outrages based on completed ebay listings.

His reply was the reason he is selling it for that much was because he bought it for $800+

That is more in line with what the SUBs and/or S.U.B.s are actually worth. They are very nice basses and well worth the $500 or so you'd pay for them.

I tried informing an ebay trader once that the asking price for a carvin he was selling was WAYYY too high...He was rude...I wrote back and told him that he'd never sell the bass at that price...He became ruder...oh well **shrug**

I was tempted to just put this one away until the value SKYROCKETS, but the times force me to sell off some instruments and this one is going up for sale.
