What music have you been listening to lately? I guess my question is leaning towards what new music have you bought recently, not just what you are listening at this particular moment.
For me I just purchased two Richard Bona CDs and a the "The Word Is Out" by the Jaco Pastorious Big Band.
I ******g love Richard Bona's live cd "Bona Makes You Sweat"! It is just awesome! It has been a long time since I have listened to a CD that much for such a long period of time. I bought it last week and literally did not stop listening to it until the JPBB and the other Bona cd "Tiki" came in the mail.
Richard Bona is just an amazing musician. Atleast in my case there are some artist that just totally change the way I play bass or atleast influence me very greatly. Up until a couple weeks ago I really hadn't listen to him. Now that I have, it has really changed how I approach my playing. Victor Wooten and Avishai Cohen had that same affect on me earlier on.
As for the JPBB cd it is also amazing. Pretty much every track has a different guest bassist while the rest of the band stays the same. So you get to hear all these great bassists, it is really cool. There is Victor, Bona, Otiel, Will Lee, Gerald Veasley, and more. It is also cool to hear Jaco's composition in big band form.
So yea, thats what I have been diggin on the past week. I would love to hear what other people are listening to!

So mostly I just put my iPhone on shuffle and listen to the same old stuff if at all. Otherwise, I only listen to learn new songs for set lists or just to improve my playing. |
