What software are you bands useing for editing videos for youtube? I got some mini DVR recordings of some of our gigs and I need to break em up into songs and get em up on youtube. Curious what everyone is using in terms of editing software.

Im using a P.C. btw, How is the Sony Vegas? pretty easy to use in terms of splitting video up and stuff? I can get my hands on pinnacle ultimate 12 but it seems like it has a bit of a learning curve on it to do alot of stuff. like i couldnt figure out how to remove a 5 second gap in the middle of 2 songs.

I use Final Cut Pro on a Mac. FinalCut Express will be more than enough to create clips from your DVD.

See above.

Just record each track on video as you record the audio, line up the tracks and move the videos to certain spots on the screen, render, done.

Search Final Cut for the PC to find many places to download. Word of caution, those free download sites often carry "gifts". Download to a CD, DVD, keychain or spare HDD so you can scrub what you get with an AV program.

For what you are doing, any functional video edit program will work fine. Pick 1 & you should be good to go.

Good luck

There is no best program for that kind of edit. Most video editing software will make compositing fairly easy.

Mcapote - in terms of ease of use, Microsoft Movie Maker is really easy. It even has a "publish to Youtube" button. It's really lacking in options, and it's difficult to get anything to look professional with it. Your movie will look like a hack made it, but it'll get something up there. I used it for all the videos that you can find for "Stereo Earth" on Youtube, but not on the ones that the other guys with better equipment and skills used. Our "Official" video was done with Lightwave (for the graphics) and Final Cut Pro, I believe, although it's still obviously by amateurs.

I could ask the drummer, but then I'd have to track him down and the cougar that got his claws into his flesh and tore him away from our band...

I did my animated film--and 1 min. trailer linked in my sig--in MovieMaker 2. It came free with my laptop's Windows Home Vista pack.

Simple like it should be: 95% of time spent creating content, 5% of time in the editing program of your choice.

Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 for me (PC platform), easy to get the hang of, great bang for the buck, worked very well for me.

I will NEVER EVER buy ANY Sony product of ANY type after the ridiculous shenanigans those assclowns have pulled, I don't care how good some things of theirs might actually work.
