Music wise I mean. For me its 3/4 time signature. I don't know what it is, but play a song in 3/4 and I am hooked. And it is not a conscious decision, looking back some of my favorite songs during childhood, before I even knew anything about music, were 3/4. What is a little strange is whenever I freestyle or come up with riffs today they tend to be in 5/4. Go figure.

Chords with tension - Sus4, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths. Some of these, especially nicely orchestrated layers of them, can be achingly beautiful before they resolve

I've been gigging with an original rock band for the past 3 or 4 years, and oddly enough 80% of our material is in 3/4. I gotta say, the novelty wears off when the set list is that skewed towards waltzes.

As far as being a sucker, I guess I am a sucker for not ending a tune on the tonic. Leave 'em hanging!

Me too! Close-voiced ones especially

Also LOVE the following sounds:

1) Baritone Sax
2) Bass Clarinet
3) Old analogue keys like Hammond, Rhodes, Clav, Mellotron, ARP Strings etc
4) Gongs

Me too. Especially with synth strings.

Odd time signatures, and unexpected changes. A female voice is also very attractive.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to put!

And horn sections.

Thumbs up analog club?

Right now, 70s-80s synth. Gary Wright, early-ish Elton. Cheesey now but cutting edge back then.

Strings and a driving beat.

I love the sound of a full orchestra jamming hard with electric bass and drums.

'Love's Theme' by Barry White & the Love Unlimited Orchestra is an amazing thing.

I think that was disco's most redeeming characteristic.

I'm a sucker for a good ballad

Dylan's Senor (Tales of Yankee Power) comes to mind

When I was in band in high school I loved the sounds of the baritone sax, bass clarinet and bassoon. But I'm a huge sucker for ballads.

I find myself listening to the drumming when I listen to bands. It's fascinating to hear the difference in technique and style between, say, Brann from Mastodon and Neal Peart.

I also love 6/8, and any sort of triplet or out-of-time riffs that come together at the end.

The minor 10th interval, and triplets. Listen to Paul Chambers on "Blue in Green."

A good driving shuffle. A great emotional ballad. Steady eighths of a heavy rock tune. These are a few of my fa-vor-ite things!

Nice slower funk. 90-110 bmp, big fat groove with swung 8th notes... but not fake or forced. As a bassist, if a drummer starts playing that... I just can't HELP but pull out the Funk Thumb...

Lots of Horns

Poly-rhythms

Epic Passages of Mellotron and Moog

Anything with Bill Bruford (He's Tasty)

Bassists who use Rotosound Strings
