| | | | My shortscale is name D (for my best friend, my first bass, bought it from her a few years ago)
Squire is unnamed
My peavey goes by either Pat(riot) or my pet peave
Fretless is unnamed until she's all back in one piece.

The 79 T40 was log.
My black Peavey Forum is lovingly called beauty by my daughter.
I've been referring to my newest Peavey, a Millennium 5 as crapo cinco as it arrived in less than ideal condition. I can't even play it because the jack is so messed up I fear blowing a speaker from the sudden pops and other noises.
The only other named instrument is my Fender Concord acoustic. It's called Cliff, because it survived blowing off the edge of a cliff in Capitola with only a slight scuff on the back. Lucky indeed.

I'll have to think about naming the others. My first impressions: Warwick $$ 5 - Blackie; Lakland 55-01 fretless: Thumper.

The serious answer: none of my 3 basses have a name, although my friends refer to my satin black Cort C4H (it has a pearl inlay around the body edge) as "the black pearl". Always gets me going "arrrrr mateys"

The Jazz is the Growly Prowly.
The old, busted Gibson RD I got in a pawn shop has been dubbed Nikki (name of my ex... ) cause with some of the utterly horrid sounds it produces, I just want to launch that bitch out the window into oncoming traffic...

It has had a preamp installed, and frets removed. It has had the scale lengthened from 33" to 34", to match the other one, and has had the nut filed down, and out, to become a B tuned four string. Frankenstein indeed! I use it to see if I am getting better intonation and muscle memory. Slow process, but one day it will take it's place on stage beside:
My Fender Deluxe Active Jazz V is named "Dragon". It seems supernatural, considering the way it came to have me as an owner. Dragons are magical creatures, which can roar, growl, or purr, depending on their mood (see "How to train your Dragon"). Just seems appropriate.
It has a mysterious past. I cannot seem to trace it back past it's previous owner. It also has well restored, hidden battle damage from those times. I think it steals souls as well. It also gives me nightmares if I don't play with it every day.
It's calling me now. Gotta , uh, go....
