Other bands that are influential as far as bass playing goes that I can think of right now: Yes (look up "Roundabout"), Phish (look up "Tweezer"), Stone Temple Pilots (look up "Interstate Love Song" but really the whole "Purple" album has some really good bass), Tool (look up "Schism"), even The Beatles (with songs like "Hey Bulldog" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)") |

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (if you're in to that sort of thing) with Victor Wooten.
Lots of Motown with James Jamerson, check out Stevie Wonder's I Was Made To Love Her.
For pick style, check out Thin Lizzy w/ Phil Lynott. Songs like Warrior, Opium Trail, Massacre, and Sugar Blues help me to push the limits of my pick-style playing all the time.

Besides that obviously all of the greats, Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee etc. |

| | | | Obscura, bassist is Jeroen Thressling, songs that show him off are "Septuagint" and "Anticosmic Overload"
Primus, bassist is Les Claypool, though every song is really just Les, a few goodies are "Extinction Burst" "Frizzle Fry" and "Tragedy's a' Comin'"
Necrophagist, bassist is _________ (not a clue), but songs that show him off are "Seven" and "Only Ash Remains"
I suppose I should also put in Flea, but I'm pretty sure we all know him =P |

Not a big fan of the lyrics, but the music (and more importantly, the bass...) is fecking great!
