What is the favorite string you like to play on on your bass. Mine is the A string. It has the perfect sound being further in on the board, but still quite low, but very clacky and full of tone. Thats why I love it.

Personally, I don't like G strings. Never did anything for me. I like the A string though. I always find myself "doodling" around on that one.

I'm partial to the good old E string. I like to make the glasses behind the bar rattle. Of course my drummer thinks I only use the E and the A anyhow. I do seem to spend a lot of time with them.

The D string - its a nice open string for pedaling all over the place. Or doing diads off it always sound nice and clear.

It depends on what part of the song I'm on and what note I need to play next.

D. its always had the right tone, even on upright bass. not too stiff, not too loose.

I probably use the A the most, so I guess that's my answer.

I also use the "A" string alot...but I have also found myself gravitating to the "E" when I play a 5 string...not sure why....maybe I just "feel comfortable" one string below the top.....the "A" SEEMS the most versatile, although I know that is not REALLY true...

opening another side light - what position do you feel most comfortable in????

I like playing in the 5th position (i.e. where the "E" is on the "A" string)....I like it because I can go up or down with ease from there and I can get "variety" in the tunes we play (i.e. I am not always "stuck" with the same pattern).....

anyone?

Whichever string I'm playing on is my favorite string.

I guess I'm fickle.

It's hard, I love playing them all, but I would have to say the E string.

I personally love the A and D strings. Mainly the A string.

E, down to C.

Something about that squishy yet heavy sound just makes my inner child orgasm.
