Whats the deal with NYC and Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys.. I'm fairly new to bass, switched over after playing guitar for 10+ years. I keep seeing text mentioning NYC bass, NY sounding, etc, etc. Everything from Markbass's website and more. Some amps have the name New York in them etc. Is NYC known for its bass sound? If so could anyone elaborate on what the NYC sounding bass is?

Thanks!

New York is the singular most important place in the world second only to The People's Republic of Brooklyn.

My guess is that "New York" symbolizes the ultimate urban environment where small, easy to schepp gear is ideal.

I'd bet most of the New York stuff you are talking about is small/light right?

New York was the epicenter of the golden age of American music and the arts, and still retains its prominence.
