For me it does. I have a lesser interest in gear overall when I don't have a place to apply it. I still play & learn stuff, but I'm on the fence between band commitments.
I am diggin' the tone of my gear, but not wanting to buy anything 'till I know where/what I'm gonna be doing.
Thoughts?

Although after 30 something years of playing, you'd think I'd have found it by now!

I look like crazy and wonder for sure. If a great deal came up, I'd jump on it but, I am not actively wanting to pull the trigger on anything...yet.
An Olympic White Precision w/rosewood & tort always looks nice though.

Thoughts? | This is me 100%!
I took some time off from playing in a band and stopped looking at gear. I was recently asked to join a band and have been shopping for another bass ever since. |

But playing and practicing let's me know my gear and realize that it's great stuff so I don't need anything else really.

Being band sedentary ends up making me want to tweak and do stuff much more than when I'm playing with the buds. But playing on your own can bring to light some things that might need improvement, like a new set of strings or adjusting your bass to make it play better. To kick my gas, I stay FAR away from any musical store and try to cut back on the bass porn
