Wink where to buy a fender bass project?

Sign in to disble this ad
realy not sure where to put this, im currently not a supporting member but I do plan to become on when I start working again (currently in a disability pension)

appart from ebay where might I find a bass project? im looking for just a random fender body then i'l pick up pieces bit by bit and a new neck (prob a mightymite) as iv realy got nothing to do all day and a project would keep me ocupied a bit (especialy if I get to change the finish!)

im in australia so needs to be a site that ships, any "project" websites or guitar shops that sell parts or beatup old guitars I should be looking at?

thanks

- Jed

Hmmm...maybe pick up an SX or something of the sort? They're upgradable and are pretty decent to begin with. I only know of them being sold via eBay but I'm surethey can be had elsewhere.

Not sure where you are but if you're near the dreaded GC, stop by and check out either a Fender MIM or a Squire bass. Fender has really been working to improve the quality of the Squire line. I tried a Squire bass and it played and sounded pretty good.

Local classifieds such as craigslist.org.

I have a guitar shop about a half hour from me that guts "damaged" guitars and sells bodies, necks, and other parts for about $20 a pop. I've assembled a few goodies outta there.

I think you can find better bodies than allparts, they are nice but overpriced. You may want to look into warmoth or stewart mcdonald for good unfinished bodies.

I would just keep an eye on the For Sale: Accessories forum. If you're patient you can probably get a whole bass worth of parts in a weeks.

bought a MIM jazz bass off ebay US, still after shipping / currency conversion it'l be half the price i'd pay for a used one in australia (shrug)

if I dont like it (iv never played a jazz) i'l resell it and start a 54' style pbass project.
