Where do you keep your backup gear when gigging?

When you guys play live, where do you keep your backup basses, cables, straps, strings and everything else? I've never really seen anyone bring any backup gear with them onstage, so I'm just wondering where a good place is to keep all of that handy incase you need it.

In the small places were I gig, it's either tucked out of sight next to the stage or left in the car outside. We don't really have theft problems here, so this works OK.

depends on the venue more than anything. my top qualifications, in order, are #1 out of a high traffic area #2 easy to access if neccessary.

I've rarely needed my backups so they stay in the car.

Backup bass is on the stand behind me, my little suitcase with extra cables, strings, etc. is tucked behind the amp. Spare head is out in the trailer.

That's exactly what I do, head in the trailer, backup bass on stand. My "little suitcase" is actually one of those chrome, briefcase looking, toolboxes from Home Depot.

I keep a hodgepodge of cables, mic, music stand, etc., in the spare tire compartment of my car.
