My wife and I are going to Vegas in March (St. Patty's Day) and while she is at her photography conference I thought I would cruise pawn shops or guitar stores...so where should I go?? We will be staying on the strip, but I will have our car...so give me ideas.

a little beyond the strip at the south end, there is a new outdoor mall called town center and guitar center is in there, it is located on south las vegas Blvd, and then we have a sam ash and cowntown guitars each located in the same shopping center right on the corner of Maryland PKWY and Karen ave. not far from the stratosphere casino on the other side of the strip just a few miles away, hopefully this info i gave you can help you if you use map quest or google maps. and i am sad to tell you as far as pawn shops go , las vegas is one of the worst places to find basses or guitars there is a couple vintage instruments stores in vegas that have scouts that go to the pawn shops everyday right when they open, and buy all the good stuff and turn around and sell it for $1000.00 more, all you will find in these pawn shops are squires, cheap ibanez's, etc.. and they are usually priced at what they would cost new in fact sometimes more, like i saw a squire p-bass once that they were selling for $400.00 used and beat up, and i know i could easily get one for $200.00 new, anyway if you have any questions let me know.

Go see the Amazing Jonathon - funny stuff in a Magic Show setting. Funnier than it sounds. Rated R for language.

if you are here on a monday night, check the Palms for performances by Santa Fe. BADDEST band in the land. They will blow you away.
Right now I am playing a medium sized musical called Hats! which is based upon the red hat society phenomenon. It's cute, but geared towards middle aged women.
Great gig for me, I play one hour a day , from 6 to 7 pm. Small band for the show and it happens to be that everyone else in the musical, except me, plays in that Santa Fe band i told you to go see. Their bass player smokes me like a cheap cigar.
Also, check out the new Palazzo- they are having bands made up of super side men - this week it was Richard Patterson ( bassist w Miles Davis & David Sanborn ) Gene Lake ( drummer from MeShells band ) Nick Moroch and Ricky Peterson who have played with everybody in NY. Call and check who's on the week you are here.
Then there's all the decadence, but I stay away from that, bro.
Good luck! Have fun..
Adrian

I'm not sure what you like, but the Beatles Love show was amazing.

Also if you want to get out of town and go to an alien planet go to Lake Meade national Park. It's only about 20 minutes out of Vegas- it's like landing on another planet- I have never seen any place as weird as that.
